Reading this site has opened my eyes. I have been on cipralex for a while..it helped the panic attacks...but the weight gain is dreadful, I feel no one takes me seriously! Having just begged my nurse to send me to a dietitican, as I have joined slimming clubs, really stuck with it and lost a pitiful amount. The GP insists they cause loss of apetite, the makers say this, to know others have this problem has made me feel so better. Plus my dosage was increased a few weeks ago, I have experienced tingling in my hand and slight swelling, unable to put my rings on..the logically side tells me it is the heat, but now I wonder, as I suffer with restless legs which make my sleep difficult, I wonder if alot of this is down to Cipralex. If anyone has these problems..it seem like a rollercoaster ride...I am desperate to get off, but kmow the worst thing I can do is stop the medication, but shall be on to the clinic I attend, armed with the knowledge I have picked up,

Unfortunately Cipralex does have side effect. I have experienced many of them like yours and other positings. However, you must decide between the symptoms - Panic and Depression releived or putting up with the side effects that you experience. A really personal choice. For me relief and a better quality of life makes continuing with the medication worthwhile. Good luck.:D

I have been taking Cipralex for just over two weeks now, i was prescribed this medication due to my depressed state following the separation from my partner and children.

The only side effects which i have noticed are loss of appetite, which i can over come by eating at the right time of day.

I feel a lot better now and only wonder where i would be if this drug was not available.

I had the same conversation with my doc last week about incredible weight gain since i have been taking them and he too told me it was nothing to do with the drug and went on to question me about my eating habits which i feel are good.

To cut a long story short he has told me to have a blood test to check on my thiroid so i will see what that brings up.

I have also decided to come of the drug because of the weight gain.
