I think more meds need to be taken and as many Epsom salt bath's as possible w a lot of salt.. Only thing that actually helps me..

Frequents Epsom salt bath's( 2 cups should help...) And keep your self dry and clean down there. I know sometimes is hard

For us ♀ females to stay dry down there, but in cases like an outbreak is very important. Plus try to eat clean healthy food and if you smoke is better for you if you quit. All of this I mention helps me a lot. I hope you get well soon

You should only use medications prescribed by a doctor, as I don't think the standard proprietory meds available over the counter will be potent enough to help you.

You might ask your doctor if he/she considers Dermovate or Umovate to be suitable treatments.

Well the docs were fine w me using hydrocortisone and the 10% lidocain they like to prescribe us, doesn't do anything for that itch! Knock on wood, but I am so happy I have not had that severe itching since my primary ob, because it is just as bad as the pain almost of the first ob.

Based on everything I've tried to research on post herpetic neuralgia and itch, the itch is harder to treat than the neuralgia and is a lot less understood than neuralgia. You are experiencing what is called paresthesia and I feel that it is experiences when the infected peripheral sensory neurons in the epithelial layer, are being attacked by our immune system and is why you're not experiencing a full blown breakout, as our immune system has learned/started to learn the behaviors/mechanics if the virus and is being preemptive before it makes it to the surface and start infecting new cell nuclides, which upon entering those and starting viral replication, they cell nucleus explodes, which is what results in the sore and the cell dies.
