really fed up

Hello everyone, I have had lower back problems for 40 years, scan shows lower 3,4,and 5 disc degeneration. I am also suffering with sciatica down left which makes last 2 toes go numb. Now I am experiencing very painful and burning heels.  First of all I decided to go to podiatrist who said that it may be coming from my back. She said I had patchy sensativity on my feet when she tested and stated that my fasia and achiles was inflamed.I have had this since xmas and have done everthing that I should excercise, anti inflamatories and also the insoles given to me by the podiatrist. She finished with the statement  that there was nothing else she could do, and suggested going to physio. So then I thought I will go to physio to discuss back and feet. He has stated that he didn't think foot probs were ralated to back, I was in tears by then as I was hoping that there was going to be a reason and hopfully a way to get rid of pain .Anyway, I have pushed for second scan on back as first one was 7 years ago to see what stage I was at now. The first scan showed very healthy plump discs however, when it came to lower 3,4and 5 there was nothing only a very thin dark line with hardly any space. It also showed sciatic nerve as very close or nearly touching bone. Iasked to see a Neurosugeon and physio stated to wait for outcome of scan.He stated that nothing could be done as far as disc replacement was concerned. I am at my wits end with the pain at the moment. Has anyone else suffered foot problems in relation to their back problems, and if so what did you do to overcome it.

            many thanks for listening.

Well I suggest you find yr self a decent neurosurgeon. As there's always something that can be done. There just fobing u off. Go bck to yr Gp and insist u want to see a neurosurgeon via the hhs at a private hospital. I did this and so far it's been the best thing I did. Never take no for a answer in this day and age unless it terminal illness. There s always something they can do. Keep pushing

Ah I feel for you but don't give up hope just yet, if your not happy then ask for a second opinion but I would say try alternative therapies first and try and avoid the surgery route if possible, have you tried a chiropractor, stretching exercises also in a pool will be good, ice/heat packs, acupuncture, what about some supplements..vit d, magnesium? They have helped with some of my pains, I hope you get some answers soon 😊

I have had pain down my right side to my right foot with numbness on my pinkie toe. I also had pain in my big toe and it was all related to nerves in my back. I suggest you insist on an MRI  and follow where those results lead you. As for myself , I had pt, then esi shots and finally surgery. Be your own advocate. Good luck. !

I feel for you as I have had first leg and ankle pain and since back pain. I have been to a neurologist, 3 rheumatologists, 2 orthopaedic surgeons,  anesthesiologist for nerve block in subtalar joint as well as many visits to family doc for MRI and referrals. I have never had to push so much for anything in my life as I have done in the past year. I am currently waiting for a physiatrist appointment - sent in referral November and nothing yet.

I know now it is hard to think with so much pain and everyone tells you something different.  You have to keep pushing - today docs are so stressed and can't get you out of their office fast enough.  You deserve answers - be firm.
