The sequence of events is that you need to have what is causing the redness to be resolved - once this is sorted out then you can look at using something like coconut oil, but NOT BEFORE.

What you need to be aware of that skin problems like this can simply be caused by what the skin is in regular contact with - for this area of the body it is most often soap, shower gel and other forms of body wash that can create the problem. Once a problem like this exists almost anything else the damaged skin is in contact with will further prevent the skin from healing or even beginning the process of repair

The best thing for you would be to see a skin specialist, a Dermatologist - or if you can only see your family doctor you would need a steroid based ointment that will help your damaged skin to recover.

Do you have skin problems any where else on your body?

DO NOT just try what other people are suggesting to you as this can actually make the situation MUCH WORSE .....

No only the skin on my penis

If you shower you MUST try to prevent all forms of body wash - such as soap and shower gel from contacting the damaged skin on your penis.

Use cold or warm water ONLY to wash your penis with, and ONLY use towels that you ONLY can use to fully dry the skin of your penis with.

As I say, I think you need to get the help of a skin specialist to overcome the problem - so certainly, do NOT apply anything else to your penis until the skin is fully healed.

Even with the help of a Dermatologist it could potentially take 7 to 9 months for your damaged penile skin to become healthy again .....

If it is a Lichen based disorder you would need a long-term regime of treatment.

With any genital skin condition it has to also be seen in a long-term perspective: that is, you are going to see little by way of real, long-lasting improvement within a week or even a month.

The essential is to get the right topical treatment in place, and this often means trying different creams, such as steroid based applications to establish which one is going to treat the individual circumstances of what you have, in the best way possible.

Once this is established you may get some indication of effectiveness after 3 months - then keep the treatment in place for up to 6 or even 9 months then judge the overall effectiveness of the degree to which the skin has repaired, healed and the extent to which healthiness of the skin has been established.

This can be a process of trying different treatments, as I say, therefore you need to update the Dermatologist on a regular basis and agree whether different medication(s) may be worth trying ......
