Really need advice about hole in heart and mild emphesema.

Hi I am a 39 year old female and I had asd repair as a child. I was told to carry on as normal which is what I did.

I'm ashamed to say I did live life to the full and I drank, smoked and did abuse recreational drugs, mainly some cocaine.

After collapsing a few times I have been undergoing multiple tests. First my red blood cell count was too high and they diagnosed me with Polycythemia. They have now diagnosed me with mild emphesema and also have discovered another small hole in my heart.

I am now really worried as: A: Could the new hole have been caused by my drug use? and B: Will they even bother operating catherizing me if i have mild emphesema as I know it can be dangerous.

Advice would be greatly appreciated. x

Having a hole in the heart can be a really bad thing, its possible that it will be cured and healed over time and with care, or you may have to have surgery for the doctors to make sure its closed artificially.
