really scared of symptoms

hey, this is my first time writing one of these. I am so desperate for some reassurance right now.

I am on day 7 of zoloft, and today and yesterday my anxiety and completely through the roof. I’ve had this fear of a brain tumor for the past two weeks, due to the symptoms I was/am having.

-intense depersonalization

-pressure headaches that come and go

-vision problems

-weird feeling all day, feeling like I’m out of it. Especially at the store, I feel like I’m just a person, not myself

I am scared to death. I had a cbc and it came back perfect. I’m too scared to have any scans done. However, today and yesterday, I’ve been feeling nauseous, and I’m not sure if it’s because of the medicine or if I should be worried. Of course I’m worried anyway. I’m just so so scared, and involved so desperate to feel better. I feel fine when I can do something to take my mind completely off of it, but that’s EXTREMELY hard to do. For example, me and my family spent the last few days at a resort, and while I was occupied, I felt fine and didn’t have any symptoms. But when I had the chance to sit down and think, that’s when I felt symptoms. Im so scared right now, and I need to know that this will pass. My anxiety is unbearable, and I’m hoping it’s because of the medicine.

My anxiety got worse before it got better. Then the anxiety went away and I was depressed for a while. The pills have a funny way of working like that.

Now im on 75mg and its week 8 and im finally seeing some results. The last 4 nights ive slept very very well.

It takes time, be patient. Good luck. Remember you can stop anytime, but if you stop too soon you might not give the meds a chance to work.

    Hi Shelby,

I’ve been on Zoloft for about a month to treat panic/anxiety. During this month I’ve felt headaches, sick to my tum, dizzy within the first few hrs after taking my dose, felt weird tingling and slight shakes in different parts of my body and blurry vision. Like you, I’m in good shape until I sit down and “think” about stuff.

Frequently that is when I feel at my worst. The blurry vision threw me, but I also have anxiety, tinnitus and TMJ, all may cause blurry vision, but Zoloft made is worse.  What helped me the most was sleep, healthy lifestyle and talking with a therapist. Helped me realize many of my weird symptons are caused by anxiety I put on myself. Having said that, the Zoloft is helping and the longer I’m on it, the better I feel. I would suggest getting the scan, at least for me, worry is fracturing. Let us know how you are doing. Wishing you good calm healthy days. kat x

Hi Shelby, i agree 100% with everyone. Its the way this drug works. Like you i thought that something was wrong. We are our own worse enemy. Our brain is such a joker sometimes, makes us think other possibilities. Hang in there and it will get better. 😎
