Hiya im new to this not sure if anyone can reassure me but so stressed and worrying and just want to feel better

so i have always battled with severe health anxiety and been on citalopram on and off in varying doses for 12 years! since november out of nowhere i was struck with horrific anxiety which coinsided with me starting back on citalopram!

so i started back taking them on 13th november after starting to worry a bit about my health mainly thinking i had a brain tumour as was having headaches and dizzy spells i started back on 20mg and things went down hill very quickly i developed severe derealisation 3 days into taking them with increasing worry and depression this did not help me worrying i had something wrong with my brain also rapid thoughts like a ping pong ball and never settling this went on until aboit the 18th of december when i noticed i was feeling a bit more better but then around 10th jan i started feeling worried again and the dp was creeping back i was upped to 30mg by the gp and again i got worse started panicking i have dementia or brain tumour as my brain doesnt feel clear its all i think about i battlrd for 4.5 weeks on 30mg and for the last 3 days been on 40mg im so stressed and unsure whats what is it stress is it the tablets is it something bad!!

i get bouts of dp/dr and my mind feels like its everywhere and nowhere all the time my stress is through the roof i cry all the time over whats wrong thinking its serious

is it i need to give the meds time and they are causing these symptoms? i just want to feel more normal and settled im a wreck!

thanks

Hi Kirsty and hope you are feeling better

I can't offer too much advice but jumping up to 40mg is a lot as I had done 20mg in the past.

I had awful side effects from 20mg in five weeks and stopped completely so I was in a different situation. But I found doctors kept telling me to stick with them and ride it out when they just didn't work for me so it's important to keep that in mind.

I hope they are settling down anyway for you.
