Really trying to cut down

Posted , 10 users are following.

Hi this is my first post. I'm 51 now and I've drank beer virtually every day since I was about 18. I've been to a few AA classes and done some reading and I concluded that I wasn't an alcoholic because I can stop and do. I then go home and have a cup of tea. I'm trying to cut down so that I have half f the days in the month dry. I only drink beer nothing else and I've changed now to the weak stuff from the strong stuff. I really like beer and the company from being in a pub but I'm always filled with guilt now that really gets me down. I use the drink aware app to keep track but in some ways I was happier when I didn't know. Has anyone had similar ??

My son is the AUD patient in the US. It has become a law in this country announced by the Attorney General that AUD  is a illness and mental illness, all medications and treatments for AUD & opiate dependency must be included in treatment by physicians, clinics etc. it has been announced in the US much like smoking that AUD kills more than any other disease, thousands everyday. AUD meds and treatment also must be covered by all insurance in the US.

Contract you GP OR ALCOHOL specialist ask for meds show them your research for these drugs available for AUD . Search all the YOU TUBE

EXPLINATIONS UNDER ALCOHOL ADDICTION, very informative and search Paul Turner on you tube in the U.K. He is a AUD Nurse practitioner. Can help get the meds you need.

Much love and success to you and I hope I have answered your question . Nerver ever give Up! This is your life and you can live without alcohol controlling the opiate receptors in the brain. U Have a illness and many can be helped by slowing down the amt of alcohol drank each day . This is not a weakness or a moral failing. This is an addiction controlled by the brains opiate receptors. Even many here can help you get the meds you need.

Start By writing a new post state where you are from and ask where others have obtained the meds needed.

I guess the big question is why do you feel guilty about drinking? I admit, I was drinking heavy like every day of the week. I cut it down to once a week, but I still feel guilty.

Everyone has a different relationship with alcohol. I normally feel guilty because I'll ask my self why did I drink? Was it because I was celebrating an occasion or personal accomplishment. Subconsciously, I drank just because I wanted to or, I'm sad/depressed. I'm by no way an expert on anything, that's just my personal experience.

    Hi there,

First time here.  I am sooooooooooooo impressed and amazed at the support.  I have learned sooooooooo much from all of you.  Does anyone know how I can purchase Naltrexone without a prescription??  I have visited a few sites, but I'm nervous as I have never done anything like this before.  I can not ask my doctor for a prescription, as he is a family friend - any advice?

Do you have the option to go private for the prescription, Pauline?

Naltrexone IS a prescription-only medication in the UK, so cannot be legally obtained in the UK without one.
