Really worried - Can anyone help Daughter's 4th Operation on ear - known as cartilage tympanoplasty

Hi. Please can someone help me with my request? My daughter is 16 years old and had glue ear when she was 3. Aged 7 she had grommets and for 4 years she had pain and infections in her right ear. Eventually the surgeon at the time took the grommets out when she was about to start secondary school - the left being fine and came out easily but the right had embedded itself and left a significant hole in her ear drum. 3 months after the operation she went back for a check up and the healing process had not begun so the surgeon cauterised the tissue with silver nitrate. She was very brave and in floods of tears because of the pain. We felt this particular surgeon was not particularly communicative and felt his bedside manner was abrupt so we then decided to get a second opinion as to what to do and saw a senior consultant at the same hospital . This surgeon was very communicative and pleasant to deal with so we were all in agreement she should go for the above surgery under this consultant/surgeon. This operation is called "right cartilage tympanoplasty" and the operation took place in April 2017. At the time, he was honest and upfront about the op and wasn't sure whether the graft would take or not. Sadly, it didn't because he was trying to graft skin onto the cauterised tissue which was very hard and bone like. So now we are back to square one with the same operation to be performed under the same surgeon. I have made appointment to express my concerns to this surgeon but I would also like to get another opinion but now running out of ideas where to go or who is a top surgeon. Can anyone help me with my request for a good surgeon who will reassure me?

How long did she have the grommet in her ear? The longer they are in place the more of a chance the hole will not close. You're obviously at that stage. If you haven't already, I would reach out to an otologist/neurotologist ENT specialist. They are the true specialist in regards to ear problems. Is your surgeon a general ENT or an otologist/neurotologist surgeon?
