ive now taken 17 days of Citalopram and i feel really low. Sleep has improved marginally but my Anxiety first thing is hard to deal with. im not working as I cant face it at the moment its just too much. i feel really low no interest in anything beyond doing really easy simple tasks in the morning. By the afternoon i do improve but the thought of leaving the house is challenging in the morning. my Anxiety says stay here but its just riddled with what ifs. Im really interested to hear how people get over the hump what tips and tricks they adopt. Am i just being impatient and wanting an improvement too soon ? im normally so positive funny and embrace life but this is really challenging times. i love this forum it gives me hope reading some of the posts. i feel im not alone but the low mood stuff is hard to deal with and just chuck in the Anxiety and its a mixture for tough days. Hit me with some positive stuff.

hi mike your not going to like this much but all that your saying is normal for these meds . iam on week 16 and going into week 13 on the 20 mgs .and have had the same happen to me and other symptoms . theres no real tricks really as its the medication heightening every think and you carnt stop that you just have to take each day as it comes and push through and keep your focus on a interest or hobby . try not to feed the symptoms by focusing on them its all anxiety .all we do when we focus on it is add another layer of worry and anxiety and in turn makes us feel worse i know its easy said then done . your in the acute faze and will be for a few weeks everyone is diffrent and some it takes shorter periods most longer your looking at the 12 weeks to start to see things changing yourself but they are changing we just dont see it at the time . in that time you will have better days and up and down days but it does ease as your go along the bumpy road . and you will start to do more as the weeks pass and start to feel parts of you coming back . i do take omega 3 on its own twice aday and l theanine the same to help with the anxiety it does take the edge off and aids recovery . try and go for walks to burn off the adrenaline off from the fight and flight response as thats what you will be in . mornings are always the worst for all of us which is horrible i know . i hope this helps but you will be you again you just have to keep pushing through all the horrid symptoms if you need and i can help you can private message and i will try my best to help we all talk from what we have been through ourselves but most people say the same things take care mike and keep going you will get there lloyd

Hi Mike,
What youre describing is very normal. I experienced all of it and have interacted with many others who have as well. For me, it seems to help a little to take the supplement L-theanine in the morning. For me thats 200mg or two capsules from the "now" brand. Also remember that our cortisol levels are naturally higher in the morning which makes it tougher. Your nervous system is very sensitive right now, so initial morning panic can happen. For me the hardest time seemed to be from waking to about 11am or 12. The best advice I can offer is to keep reminding yourself that its temporary. It took me two months to see results but Ive also yoyoed on and off these meds multiple times in a year so it could be less for you. Keep track of small improvements, days when things are easier, because thats proof that its starting to work. But progress wont be linear. Hard times come in frequent waves and get less the more time that passes. I wish you all the best, and dont lose hope.
