Rebound rash

Anyone else experience the rebound rash of prednisone? I took it foe 14 days for severe hand eczema and about a week after finishing the prednisone, an itchy rash started on my shoulders after being in the sun and within 3 weeks has spread everywhere but feet, face and private areas..thank God! I was told by Dr the only fix is more prednisone! That makes no sense. Has anyone been through this without taking more? How long did it last?

    Hi Vicki

I have had to be on Prednisone for the past couple of years to keep the hives away.  I have Chronic Urticaria (hives).  I have been on a very low dose of 1mg for almost a year now.   For me it is what is keeping me hive free along with Allegra.  If I stop the Prednisone.......unfortunately I continue to break out.  The key to going off Prednisone is to go down very slowly....1mg at a time and stay on it for at least a week before going down another 1mg.  Our body needs gradual change. I pray that in time I will do 1mg every other day for awhile and then be able to go into remission. I wish I could advise you better.  You might want a second opinion on the Prednisone
