Reccuring rib pain

Hi everyone. About.. 3/4 months ago I had a horrible illness like a flu but much worse. Due to alot of coughing i had damaged one of my ribs on the left side. Unsure whether it was bruised or fractured, but i think it may have been a fracture as i heard a loud snap sound when I went to lay down on my bed at the time, causing intense pain.

I didnt go to the doctors or hospital as i know theres not much to do about rib breaks/bruises.

Anyway, i left it to heal and a month or so down the line it felt alot better. However, now if I do anything that involves that rib such as laying down on my front, getting myself up from the floor etc it can cause a real bad pain to come back it that same spot.

Is this something i will have to deal with for years? Months? The rest of my life? And is it worth getting checked out at the doctors? Its annoying as im only 22 and have a very physical job as a machine mechanic and thought my body may be able to handle such use without pain!

Many thanks everyone

Hi jay I would have a quick visit to the Docs and get checked, broken bones can take a long time to repair themselves and if your continuously doing things to aggravate it it will take even longer, off you go to the doc, let me know what you find out
