hello ddelima, they are 2 different procedures as far as I know.

BNI is bladder neck incision i think.

Jacko will be able to tell you more.

Rezum is a treatment of its own, although BNI can be done with, before or after prostate surgery in case it helps. Thats my understanding anyway, i could be wrong.

There are some other threads on here about Rezum that may help you if you rrad them.

Again from what ive read a lot of these procedures take far longer to get over than a lot of drs and articles state. im sorry to say. 12 weeks isnt that long although it will seem it to you and it would me but it can take longer to see improvements ive read.

see what your doctors and surgeons say about recovery/improvement times. and if they can prescribe anything to alleviate pain and or improve the other problems.

      Hi Bringo

You are correct the procedure that I had, was a Bladder Neck Incision, 12 days ago in Cambridge, UK

The flow is good much stronger than before. I did have a Holep procedure in France November 2020 for enlarged Prostate, then I developed scar tissue, which caused a very uncomfortable burning sensation the whole time whether peeing or not. Moved back to the UK in August 21 and sort advise of Uro in Cambridge who recommended BNI, once he started to perform the procedure he found more prostate that needed attention, and a lesion across my Urethra, I have follow up with him in 3 months. Just need to know if this burning is quite normal and what I might be able to take to alleviate the problem. Perhaps a Urine Alkaliser?

Once you know then that aids to the recovery period.... Thanks

      Hello Jacko,

i hope it all goes well for you. Im in uk too. Im waiting on NHS scans as i don't have private health care - do you understand the nhs process and can i get referred to a consultant of my choice, outside my local nhs, after my local nhs has done tests?

i could self fund an op possibly but im not rich and all the tests, scan, cystoscopy, flow etc would cost best part of £3K.

sorry to detail this but would appreciate any advice.

      Hi Bringo

Good to hear from you again, it is good to talk about this procedure and share view points.

I was suggested to see this particular consultant in Cambridge by a urologist in Bordeaux who new him from seeing him and new his work at a conference they both attended. I had all the scans in France. The situation was complicated in that I caught a very nasty infection which started in the prostate and travelled into my left testical. I was on antibiotics for 8 weeks that how bad the infection was.

I saw him privately when I returned from France (Cost of the consultation £250.00)

I asked about going through the NHS and he told me that I would have to wait approx 10 - 12 months and I felt that I could not wait that long due to the fact that I was in constant pain. Therefore I choose to go Private this has cost me £2,800.00

If everything pans out it would be worth it. I hope this burning will disappear after a period of time. Keep the conversation going. I do not know the referal process but it is worth asking the question if you know of a good urologist in another area. Let me know...

      Good Morning Bringo

Just a thought if you are going to have a cystoscopy, then my consultant said that he would do the BNI whilst he investigated the bladder,Prostate, Urethra and the price i gave you included the pre-admission and stay over, and follow up consultation.

Let me know how you get on
