so I just found out today. how likely is it that i got herpes and it stay dormant for 6 months before my first outbreak?

I have been with the same guy for years. but we had this huge break up 6 months ago and I made a bad decision and got with another guy. but I am now with my long term bf and have been since. my symptoms showed up right after having sex with my long term bf 2 weeks ago and he has no symptoms and refuses to get tested. I know ill probably never find out where I got it. but those 2 are my only sexual encounters for years. just curious if it really works like I could of got it from dude 6 months ago and not passed it to my bf we never use protection and I haven't had any symptoms for 6 months?

yes he knew something was wrong. he was helping me while I was in tremendous pain and I told him the results came back today positive. I told him to get tested he said he has no symptoms. i explained that symptoms or not he may still have it. he said he either has it or doesn't he is p****d that I have it but what can he do. im paraphrasing but thats more or less the gist.

it sounds to me that its more likely that he contracted it during your break and passed it to you recently. from what ive read, if you're going to have symptoms at all, you'll get them within the first 2-12 days of contact with the virus. i'm not a doctor so i could be wrong, but i've done a lot of reading and researching lately. i think that's more likely than you contracting it months ago and just having your first outbreak now. also sus that he won't get tested?? it's for his own sexual health?
