Recent Parathyroid & Thyroid Surgery

Hello,

On November 7, 2017,

I had 3 & a half parathyroid glands removed and half of my thyroid removed.  Ever since the surgery, my calcium levels have been too high or too low. Mostly low. I'm on a prescription calcium medication and take 6-8 tums with it everyday. My doctor kept me on 75 mg of Synthroid.  I'm experiencing constant hunger which has caused me to gain weight since the surgery and no energy.  I have been getting bloodwork a couple times a week. I'm hoping things will get better soon.  Has anyone had this experience or can anyone offer some advice to help with this?

    Hi

I had my thyroid completely removed and my calcium levels were up a down for about six months, but they do eventually level out.  I'm afraid the tiredness and weight gain come with being hypo.  Once you get your thyroxine levels back to "normal" you should be OK.
