Hi all,

I have posted my story before for those who remember..

I had surgery yesterday to rectify the fusing and narrowing to my vaginal hole. The surgeon cut the fused

skin up to my 'wee hole' and at the bottom of the hole down to the gooch?.. (apologies if you don't understand it's hard to explain).

Today I am very sore, taking Oramorph and plastering Dermovate all over.

I was just wondering if anyone else has had or is due to have this surgery??

Thank you xx

Thanks for your feedback, when one has atrophy down there, or in the case of my anatomy, the tissue literally shrinks and thins out, so there is nothing hiding underneath my fused skin . also i know that when scar tissue builds up its scar tissue and that is really hard to work with, if i were newly fused down there i suppose that would be changeable. honestly i dont even know a specialist i would consult about this.

Looking at my before surgery & after surgery pics I can visibly see that the fusing at the bottom of my vagina was alot thicker than the fusing at the top (just underneath wee hole)... The fusing at the top was almost transparent and before surgery when I stretched my vagina from the sides you could see the tightness of it. But the fusing at the bottom was thick scar tissue. I'm guessing thats why i had to go under GA and why the bottom is so much more sorer than the top!!

i have the same as you with the thinning and fused skin at the top... doc says my inner lips are fused and theyre too late to save.

Are you in the UK? X

wow i am so sorry you had to go threw surgery for the skin condition i did have almost the same situation and also thought i would need the same type of surgery but went with a wellness doctor and her advice was the O-shot ,read up on it but at the time of the appointment to do the o-shot she could barely get the needle inside of my vagina to even do it ,i remember her just injecting where she could also she couldnt even get her fingers in there to open it up for the shot but later i could tell a differnce woth the o-shot and clobetasol 0.05 which i had to use it everyday for a month straight and now i use it twice and sometimes once a week, now i can get a paps smear and also have sex ,, what im trying to say with this this condition is due to a skin condition it dose not stop with surgery it will still shrink back down over time if you do not keep up the health of the skin in that area

How did your vaginal hole open back up to normal size after the injection if you don't mind me asking?

I have no idea what tools they used to open my vaginal hole back up but it feels blistered and looks and feels so sore. Urinating is chronic.

Surgeon did say as soon as its no longer sore and has healed (putting it bluntly) just put something up there to keep it open... haven't had sex for about 18 months as its been impossible... x

the hole opened back up by me using vagina stretchers its one i got off of ebay i could put it in and leave it in over night and also using different size dilators ,lube and once i got it open enough got a boyfriend and started having regular sex like once a week sometime we were able to do twice a week , i find if i go long periods of time with out sex i start to close up some , just recently we went two months without sex because my BF was out of town alot on business and i could tell my vagina hole has gotten smaller and the start of sex was a bit hard for me but once it got in it was fine but after i was soar for three days so i know now i have to have sex at least once a week to get it normal again ,,once i was able to have sex back to back two times in a row which was something i haven't been able to do in years ,you know that saying use it or loose it ,its true for us so use it as much as possible so the whole stays open plus after sex my vagina feel normal ,looks normal it kind like sex is helping the situation some kinda of way ,so i forgot to tell you i do go to bodylogics MD's to get my hormones checked regularly thats the wellness doctors i mentioned earlier ,if i had not gone to them my condition would have gotten worse of course my medical plan do not cover the charges but it worth it to have a normal life again so if you can goggle them and read up on them and the O-shot the have lots of utubes on it i think im gonna get another one on my next office visit ,,i hope everything goes well with your surgery i know this whole thing is very hard for you because it was extremely hard for me going threw it i myself almost looked into having surgery but went the other route first ,,also we have to be careful because a lot of doctors don't even know alot or even understand this condition and we become test dummies for them at our own expense ,so we kind have to be our own doctors and do lots of research to find answers to our own conditions ,i hope this info could help

Do you know if the dilators are cheaper on the NHS or off Ebay? Doc did say to me sex will help... too sore to try yet but feel nervous already! x

OMG you poor thing. Yes I understand your lingo haha. I find the area to the entrance of my vagina in the lower area feels tight. When I have sex it feels like its been stretched and causes pain. This totally sucks. I hope it doesn't get any worse. I hope you heals fast and it helps you

Glad you got it lol its hard to explain things over typing lol..

The bottom bit of my vagina was a lot thicker scar tissue than the fusing at the top..

Have you got any steroid cream for the tightness? I did find before surgery using steroid cream moistened the area and it felt less tight and didn't tear/cut as easy.. although sex was still impossible I used it on the inner lips area mainly.

Thank you for the support x

Hello everyone, I have posted part of an NIH article on the uses of platelet therapy for various gynecological problems including LS. Can't believe it's a year old! You should all read it along with what dr.n posted from The Guardian yesterday. Why none of out doctors are discussing this with us I can't imagine.

It's time WE started discussing it with them. I certainly will as soon as I can track mine down.

And the "lack of estrogen" theory was not reported by any of my 5 doctors as a cause for LS. One said "auto-immune" but the other 4 offered nary a cause. Apparently either too few docs are well-schooled enough to be able to pinpoint this problem or have not done their continuing ed credits and never see any women with the condition (which I doubt is true).

Where does that leave us who want a cure and not just remission of symptoms?

I'm guessing there is a higher percentage of women with AV who get LS than those without AV. As the AV is caused by a lack of estrogen they make the connection. She did say it is "thought" to be AI and "in your case" it was brought on by a lack of estrogen.

Tried to track her down today to no avail. The medical group she was associated with claims they do not know where she is. (Clearly untrue as she told me she was not leaving the area). I contacted the other clinic known to deal with vulval disorders and asked for the doctor my MIA doc (who has an impressive resume) recommended only to be told that doc has retired. I'm chasing rainbows here. Left a specific message re platelet therapy, but was not in when the nurse called ; she did not answer the question.

I'm curious about the surgery. Did the doctor scrap away the patches or cut it out. Did you have stitches? Did he put you out?

      Hi Susan,

The surgery I had was to undo the fusing to the entrance of vagina. I have no idea what tools doc used on me but looking at the after surgery pics the skin almost looks burnt where she unfused the skin? so so sore

No stitches needed, and yes I was asleep went under general anaesthetic. Surgery took around 45-60 mins.

Doc did say there is an op she will eventually do in the future and it will be to take the skin away? she said this op she can only perform once in my life and as I'm only 21 she will not consider it yet x
