After a month or more of what I thought was arthritis getting (quickly) worse, I realized I probably had FS. A doctor confirmed it about a month ago. I am doing exercises and I am waiting to see how it goes before I look at other treatment options. I have sympathetic some people around me, but unless you have experienced it, it hard to understand the extreme pain that is involved. My husband pretty much gets it. He has nerve damage in his neck from a car accident, and that pain zings down into his fingers. He understands when I suddenly gasp in pain. But I am grateful that I found this group, and reading through the posts and comments has given me information and shown me there is a place to go if I need it where there are people who understand the specific journey this condition puts us on. Thanks!

Terese, thanks for posting!  I’m probably reaching freezing stage.   First noticed shoulder pain and restricted movement September 2017.  Doctor visit, X-ray, and PT has not helped.  Doc even gave me cortisone shot and absolutely no difference.  Waiting to see a shoulder specialist.

Im at the point where sleeping is painful and I dread going to bed at night.  Everyday lack of movement/function has impacted my life.  Putting on clothes, bra, and most tasks cause pain.

Ive been researching a lot online - different YouTube, reading material, etc.  thinking about trying acupuncture.  I know I’m not into surgery or pain meds.  Had meniscus surgery and it returned, so for what I’ve read, shoulder surgery hasn’t helped most people, so why go through it?

i am anxious to know what you have tried. I just can’t believe this - I’m a very active and mostly fit (before this shoulder pain I worked out 3-4 days of “boot camp” a week) 53 year old.  Went through menopause at an early age of 40.  I eat reasonably and limit alcohol and sweets.  This has been debilitating and I need relief!  Maybe you or someone can provide some more info!   Thanks!

Hello, this forum is great for advice and tips. I started last september and am in stage 2 frozen stage. I took the advice to go for massages as I was in such alot of pain in shoulder but also the pain was in forearm and wrist and neck from the muscular spasm. I also purchased a shiatzu cushion which I use every night to relieve tension. I use pillows in the bed around me so I can support arm which has helped and occasional night I take sleeping aid (herbal) which I am now noticing I need to take even less frequent than before, think this is as my body is in less pain and also recovered my sleeping pattern. I still do my PT exercises but I dont push too far into tightness and since Ive done this for the past month I can now see a small but ever so important improvement.

I have restarted HITT sessions but oops did too much on legs as still cant use arm so now my legs are very sore lol.

This is a horrible condition and all  can say is this does start to ease. Do what you can to get rid of tension try massage or acupuncture. Try different pillows and relaxation. Its about trial and re trying things. I am not good on painkillers so I stuck with using lots of Ice packs.

Keep in touch and stay strong xx

Thanks, Bailey.  I will look into the cushion and also ice.  I thought heat was best?   I’m just really starting to get more info since at first I thought I tore something and never heard of FS until I went to Physical Therapy and the therapist said she was almost positive I had it.

Nice to to know there are others out there who understand the type of discomfort and pain this creates (even though I don’t wish this on anyone!]. Spasms are almost nightly.  Have you tried any essential oils for relief?

      thanks again for response!

I am so glad the massage has helped you. There are to many people that just listen to the doctors who just want to make money and don't get any relief. I am almost back to normal after about 10 months and all I did was massage and stretch. It is so great to be able to do my hair again.

      Hello

Heat is good for muscular spasm. I only use ice if I feel a nagging pain across the front of the shoulder as I also had inflammed subacrominal bursitis. I did have a steroid injection last november and the bursa pain almost resolved. The most benefit Ive seen is from the shiatzu massage cushion my partner got me from boots store. I use the cushion daily and massage my neck shoulders, upper arm biceps and even my forearms and hands. My movement is still very restricted but I am now beginning to see and feel a difference and very small improvements. I can turn my hand over now and have a lot less pain that was radiating from bicep all the way to wrist.

I have not used essential oils, have you?? How are you getting on?

Take care stay strong ( we will all get through this together) xxx

      Hello Lisa

Im so glad to hear that you are coming through this (although Im having hair envy). I agree with you.....massage, stretch and gently do exercises. I feel like this past few weeks ive turned a positive corner and starting to see small improvements. Its a long road but we will get through this.

Hi .I really understand what you are going through the pain is just horrible  and can reduce you to tears. I had a frozen shoulder 2 years ago which I ended up having to have surgery for as the consultant said it was very severe it was  successful but now I have it in my other shoulder. I'm in a lot of pain and sleep deprived 31/2 -  4 hours a night if Im lucky,if I do catch it the wrong way the pain goes right down my arm to my fingers . My husband is very understanding and wants to help  with things but I am very stubborn so I'm not helping myself. Heat and ice help a bit but I'm allergic to Ibuprofen  so am popping paracetamol. I'm due to see a consultant on Wed to see where I go next. Its a horrible thing to go through and a lot of times doctors don't no why it happens. I have read that it happens to more women than men and also maybe the menopause doesn't help because of a drop in hormones.I hope you get some relief soon
