Hi guys

I just been diagnosed with HSV1 and I don't know what to do. I have been in a relationship for 10 years. I had 2 kids with him and never crossed the line in cheat on him. But he was unfaithful to me. I had a regular Pap smear check up in November and I came back with an STD( chymidia). After those results I was devastated and we broke up. And recently I had a feeling on getting a complete scan urine and blood work and I took him along with me and made him get a complete scan (mind you we are not together). And then when I found out that I diagnosed with HSV1 and I am waiting on his results tomorrow. I have never experienced an outbreak or I have never seen him with an outbreak neither. I'm a mother of 3 beautiful kids and now that I am afraid of touching them too much beacause I feel extremely dirty. I spend my whole day reading and educating myself on HSV1. I'm still in shock. I don't know what to do. I feel all sort of emotions. I need help.

Many people carry oral HSV1 without symptoms. You could have had it long before him, and it is not even likely genital. Around 70% of the population carries it, primarily orally, and only around 20% ever have symptoms. I would be rightfully upset about the chlamydia, but not the HSV1.

It's extremely difficult to deal with. I had my routine checkups with my on GYN and had a baby 3 years ago and only been with him and it been negative. Until yesterday. I'm just afraid for my kids. I woke up this morning and looked the mirror sereval time just to spot out if I any lesions. But I havent had an outbreaks. Thank you for responding to my discussion.

I still wouldn't worry about it too much, even if you tested negative for HSV1 before, but positive now. Most people carry it, as I noted, and most of those who have it don't have any symptoms, and it sounds like you're one of the ones without symptoms (maybe your partner, too). Also, the blood test cannot indicate location, so you could (and probably do) have it orally, not genitally. If the blood test was IgM, not IgG, the results may not even be accurate. Which blood test did you have done?
