Recently diagnosed with Psoriatic Enthesitis

Hi I have recently been diagnosed with Psoriatic Enthesitis and struggling to find information on it. I have been told i don't have arthritis just the enthesitis.

I can't find any information as to if i will suffer from flair ups and then it may settle down again or if it will turn into arthritis. Also can the condition burn itself out or am i looking longterm?

I am currently on Arcoxia but have to discuss methotrixate at my next appointment.

Any information on any of the above would be gratefully received.

Thanks

You can google psoriatric entethesis and get loads of places to get info, including ArthritisresearchUK and the Cleveland clinic. I said in the other posts I tried that I'd give you the links but they'd be moderated - they were snaffled anyway! In the first case I know why - but what was wrong second time round I have no idea!

Have you found enthesisinfo? Or papaa?

I think though that, as is the case with almost all autoimmune conditions, you are asking a question of the "How long is a piece of string?" variety. Every patient is different and while one may progress, another may go into remission and have a long period of nothing and then it may reappear. No-one can say whether the extent of the disease you have is all it will ever be - or how it will progress. Which is probably why you haven't seen answers to your specific questions online, there aren't any guarantees of any sort.

Your rheumatologist may be able to provide some answers - but even they don't come equipped with crystal balls. You may respond superbly to methotrexate, or you may need to try a few DMARDs before you find the right one for you. The DMARDs are to try to avoid further damage to the tissues - but the chances are that is going to pretty long term therapy. But if taking a pill means it doesn't get worse then that is a good start.
