Recommendations for London IBS specialist

Hi all,

I have ulcerative colitis and have been experiencing pretty bad symptoms over the last year and a half.

My NHS gastroenterologist has run a calprotectin test several times but as the figures come back borderline or low, she says its just IBS and there is nothing she can do.

Can anyone recommend any private IBS clinics in the London area? I want to get my gut flora testes etc.

    There are no tests for IBS, I just want to put that out there first.

    one of the best people you can go is the gut clinic at kings college hospital. It's run by Dr Megan Rossi and her team- they are expert on gut health

    I am aware that there are no direct tests to diagnose IBS, but there are plenty of tests that can be performed on someone exhibiting IBS symptoms either to rule out other causes of the symptoms or to assess gut health and identify the best treatment approach. On the NHS, I have only been given a calprotectin test to check if my ulcerative colitis is flaring; if it is not, then I am told it is IBS and offered no further assessment or treatment.

    Do you know if it is possible to get referred to the Gut Clinic at KCH on the NHS?

      No, it is a private clinic. as far as I am aware there are only 2 specialist IBS clinic in the UK on nhs and they are both up north.

      You might be able to get a federal to a dietician but that's about it.
