I think the most common one used for Meniere''s is triamterene/htz at a fairly low dose. I've used it successfully for 7 years and had low blood pressure to start with. No bad side effects. Got rid of the vertigo.

I have been given a potassium sparing diuretic (dyazide) which has been working well for me. It is low dose and taken once a day vs the amount that you end up having to take with betahistine. There can be side effects of course. I have to use sunblock when I am outside as it can cause a sensitivity to sunlight. You can't allow yourself to become dehydrated-not that doing that without diuretics would not cause problems also. My blood pressure had always been on the low side but did not drop all that much more with the dyazide. I must have been holding a lot of excess fluid as I dropped ten pounds after starting it.

I couldn't tell you how many mg/day I am taking. I have stopped eating most processed foods that have a lot of salt, lunch meat, hams, chips, crackers and the like. I do not add salt to my cooking, using other herbs for flavor instead. I never really cared for salt in my foods anyway so it was not a big change. I find that my headaches started decreasing in frequency after cutting down on the salt
