Hey, my other half is suffering from a flare. I've been looking into alternative therapies and seen something called Absorb plus. Does anyone know of this or similar nutritional shakes to prove nutrition whilsdt resting the bowl? Any reccomdations appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi

Don't know if this will help but I had surgery for stricture 7 weeks ago ( hemicolectomy) and gall bladder removal,. Was very "loose" both before and worse agter.

Was dreading more blooming chemicals, so tried acidophilus capsules 1-2 per day ( from suggestion on internet) and they have worked wonders slowing digestive transit to allow absorption and firmed everything up without blockages.

Also following a fairly low residue diet, just starting to introduce some limited fruit and veg.

Other suggestion: warm lavender baths for spasms, hot water bottles, rest as much as possible drink fluids ++++ non carbonated. no stress. Sudocrem for sore bottoms.

Good luck and health for 2016

Hi, just read your reply to this post - I too just had 70cm resected & really struggling with being"loose" . I will look into these capsules as I also like to avoid as many drugs / chemicals as possible. Thanks

I was put on fortisips for 6 weeks prior to surgery. My CRP dropped from 130 (mid flare) to 5 within 4 weeks. I couldn't take any Crohns meds at the time due to an infection. My consultant reckoned a rested bowel as good as a medicated one!

Hi! My son is having a flare up and we are recommended by his pedia to take nutritional enteral therapy for 8wks straight. He was instructed to drink Pediasure, so I gues Ensure will do for your other half.

They are all pretty much the same, the hard part is sticking to them, you can get rather sick of them, but I can be done and I did feel better from doing them x
