Reconstruction of Foot Joint in Turkey!

I have heard of a doctor who is great for this procedure.
I don't know how long the recovery takes and is it "smart" to do this procedure abroad?

How long is a piece of string? Some people recover from any surgery without any problems at all and others have multiple problems. You dont know how you might recover.
You need to take into consideration the total cost of this procedure. It wont be cheap and you will need someone to go with you. You should be in Turkey for about 3 months with your companion. That will mean accomodation charges. if you decide to come home quickly after the procedure the NHS will be reluctant to touch you and may only give minimum treatment. You then have to return to Turkey later.
You have no guarantee that this will be successful and there is no NHS in Turkey. EVERYTHING will be charged to you.
The NHS may be very reluctant to sort out any problems when you come back.
If you are still keen to go ahead then make sure you phone as many Consultants as possible and balance all risks. English is widely spoken. Turkish hospitals and consultants are of a high standard generally but you are entering unknown territory. If you go to Istanbul in Winter it is very cold so be prepared.
If you are in UK then do ask your GPs advice. if you are currently seeing an orthopaedic surgeon in UK then is it possible he/she can do this privately or can recommend another consultant who can help?
