Reconstruction of shoulder joint

Has anyone had this procedure?  It's called a Superior Capsular Reconstruction of the shoulder.  It's fairly new.   I had the surgery 1 1/2 weeks ago and haven't been able to find much about the recovery.  My doctor says full sling with that pillow thing (ugh) for 6 weeks and only then can I start PT.  It's going to be a long road.

No I haven’t heard if this but as one who is wearing the dreaded sling with a pillow thing, I can tell you it is horrible especially sleeping  with it at night for six weeks, but it will pass. I am three weeks into it and I fell onto my shoulder 2 days ago and had it not been for that pillow, I would have been injured. I wish you luck with the op and would be interested to hear the outcome

Oh my gosh  that is scary.   I have only been wearing the sling and not the pillow around the house but whenever I am out of the house or have company I wear it.   I see the doctor tomorrow.   It will be 2 weeks since surgery so I am looking at 4 more weeks of sling.   Ugh.

Hello there. I always look up things when I'm not sure what they are. Ask all the questions you can, and get any info you can. I'm having more surgery on my right shoulder to remove some scar tissue as soon as I get it approved. Please keep us informed on your decision. Wishing you the best!!

Hello , I was supposed to have the same operation  on my left shoulder last year but it was cancelled as they have discovered that I have sleep apnoea and they said I need to sort this out first , ( although over the years I have had numerous surgery's) . I have had both my knees replaced and several shoulder operations the last one being a graft jacket on my right shoulder . How are you doing after your surgery , any signs of success yet ? kind regards , Mal .

This is my 4th shoulder surgery.  1 left, 3 right.  I have to say this reconstruction has been the least painful.  I am 2 weeks post op today.   Haven't taken any pain pills beyond the 1st day.  Doctor says recovery will be slow, up to 5 months of PT.  So far, so good.  I am very very optimistic this will be my last shoulder surgery smile
