Recovering from Labrynthitis

Hello All,
I am hoping to hear from people who are recovering from labrynthitis. I had my first episode of veritgo a month ago and am struggling to feel balanced again. The difficult part of it for me is knowing when to push and exercise my brain and when to rest. I have been going to work, but am finding that by about 2:00 p.m., I am spinning and very uncomfortable. If I work the whole day, my evening is totally awful - very very dizzy. Any suggestions?
Best,
Linda

I have been suffering with labyrinthitis for nearly 8 months. I'm a 44-year-old male and I stay in fantastic shape for most of my life. For this to happen has been completely life altering to say the least. Cannot go to certain places like the grocery store as too much stimulation will make me feel really dizzy. Anxiety attacks have been off the roof. Hopefully time will heal as everyone says it does.

Hey Kevin
I've had it twice. It does go away
..more quickly with vestibular rehab.

gooseberry and Coriander powder is the best natural remedy for vertigo. Soak a teaspoon of both gooseberry powder and coriander powder into a glass of water at night before sleeping. Strain and drink it next morning, you can also add some sugar to make a good taste before drinking
This remedy is benefiecial to cure vertigo and also get rid from suddenly dakness around the eyes. Repeat regularly for couple of weeks to get effective
Buying mine from Amazon called Indian gooseberry powder
Ginkgo Biloba
Is also a natural berb that helps to cure vertigo. You can use it to boost the blood circulation in inner ear to solve all the problems related to the ear, you can buy it as a powder or tablet form, and gooseberry Juice is good for your eye sight too
I do hope this helps you. I'm definitely buying mine tomorrow moring
I hate being like this, I always have a right blocked ear feeling sick, of balance all the time no concentration.

Hi there
I too had Labs twice. My balance nerve is damaged due to a virus. My left ear is always plugged and I have tinnitus in it although it is not very loud. I feel mildly off balance often but it gets worse when I am stressed, tired, eat too much sodium or on my period. I have learned to live with the effects...
It's not fun but there are worse things. Thankfully, I have never had the spins!

I had labyrinthitis twice. My symptoms were the same as yours. It is no fun but it does go away with time and vestibular rehab exercises. Did your doc mention these?

I was diagnosed w labnrnthintis. Dec 7, 2017. ENT immediately did hearing test, no loss. ACT scan and MRI w normal results. T office did A VNG test confirming permanent damage to nerve on my left ear. My left side of my face, eyebrow dropped as well, but not bell palsy. Constant feeling of being drunk last few weeks. Referred to neurologist for ct angiogram. He said he sees a difference in my carotid artery and wants blood work. I felt a bit of the fog finally lift Dec. 11th and dizziness is improving. This started with mild dizziness on Nov 30th as I was tripping on non existing things when stepping off curbs. So I'm 6 weeks into this, I am tired all the time, but starting to feel better. This has been debilitating!

Hi Kerry
My GP recommended I see a Vestibular Rehab Specialist but an ENT should know as well. It's true that drugs will delay your brain's ability to compensate and delay healing but my anxiety was so bad worrying about my dizzies that I couldn't function. So I took a very low dose of antidepressants.
My labs lasted 2 years the first time around but that's because I didn't hear about Vestibular Rehab until well after I'd already suffered a full year. When I got it back again after 5 years, I started the rehab exercises right away and it only lasted 4 months!
I definitely had the pressure at the back of the head that felt like I was being pushed forward! I also had numerous other symptoms that really were nasty to live with. Write me if you want to know more.
Currently, I have only 48% working ability of the balance nerve in my left ear. Apparently labs are caused by a virus which attacks the nerves in the inner ear. I am about 98% recovered and function very well but not perfect. I've been left with some mild tinnitus in my left ear and the dizziness does act up on occasion ESPECIALLY WHEN STRESSED! My cycle affects it too but not to the point where I can't function....I just feel a bit wonky in my head...a bit off.

Hi Kerry
I totally understand about worrying it won't go away! HONESTLY THAT WAS MY BIGGEST FEAR OF ALL! I took Lorazapam (very similar to what you're taking) every night for months!!
Let me know how it goes!
Good luck

I had pressure at the top and back of my head all the time. It felt like I was being pulled backwards. I got some relief from putting an icepack on the back of my neck.
I also got relief seeing a massage therapist who actually massaged my scalp and neck areas.
Try not to worry so much as Labs does give you head pressure. My ears were very sore as well.

Hi Kerry
I tried both of those but they did not help....everyone is different and i hope you get some relief.
The only drug that helped me was an anti depressant called Ciprolex. It was a very mild dose but it brought my anxiety levels down so i could function.
Let me know how you're doing.
