Recovering from shingles

Posted , 2 users are following.

I have been diagnosed with shingles nearly 4 weeks ago ..

I have commented on this forum before giving my view on alternative options on medication.. Through diet , vitamins etc ..

I did not take any anti viral or strong painkillers as I am very hypersensitive and allergic to a lot of these chemicals ..

At the moment I am feeling a lot better still in some discomfort have my good and bad days .. The pain I had has some what subsided .. I have a little burning in my right hand side of my back and my tummy .. But nothing to the pain I have experienced.. I feel I am on the meant and hopefully make a full recovery .. And I just wanted to give some hope and reassurance to those still in recovery ..

But it would be great to know if anyone has NOT taken any medication for whatever reason and made a fully recovery or has not had a recurrence in the past few years...

Best wishes to everyone my heart goes out to to all .. Yvey

      Hi babara ..

Thank you for taking the time to reply ..

But i really didn't have much option .. And I certainly didn't have an easy time of it ... I am allergic to so much medication I know I couldn't tolerate anything ..that is why I had to look into an alternitive root .. And I found lots of certain foods that was more beneficial to eat during the worst period of shingles that contained more lysine than arginine and I feel that has helped a lot .. I am now feeling optimistic and staying positive .. But it is something that no one should take lightly , I still spoke to my doctor who supported me through this ..

At the moment I have a little pain and some burning in my lower back and tummy but nothing that isn't bareable ..

      But kind regards ..yvey

Yeah, I know what you are saying. It seems I have been intolerant to the medication prescribed for me, even using a Tens machine, the sticky pads brought my back up,in a rash! I'm currently on just ibroprufen, but strongish one 3x daily but this isn't sufficient fir total pain relief. I've now gone down the 'private' route. Seen a back specialists in case it's related to something else and am due to have an MRI scan next week. It could be money down the drain, which I can't really afford, but I can't just toddle off, sit in a corner in agony and take a pill, which seems to be what I'm expected to do. At the age we are, I'm 67, I think I'm expected to just give up, but at this age we are not old codgers any more and do have lives. Good luck with everything!!
