Recovery

Hi, I were suffering from Labyrinthitis for 2 months and my GP put me on Stemitil,it were a life saver, I've been off them 2 weeks now, and ,glad to say,I'm doing ok apart from a very slight feeling of being off balance, I notice it when I'm tired or been staring at something for too long, like my laptop screen. I tend to tire more easily now too. I'm leading a normal life, going to work where Im on my feet allday, going to the supermarket and using public transport with no ill effect. I were wondering, has anyone else tired easily and experienced these slightly off balance feelings during recovery?

Hi, although i cannot say i am in 'recovery', i was interested to read about your situation with staring or focussing on for e.g. laptop screen. I too have this, along with books (haven't read a book for 3 1/2 years) and even with the newspaper cannot read it for too long. However i tire easily and often experience a 'delay' as i will sometimes feel it more a few hours later, (tiredness and off balance stuff) and the next day too. Can you tell me what Stemitill is - ie, type of drug?? thanks

Hey guys yes I have the same exact symptoms. I also get dizzy going to sleep on my sides. It's strange because I didn't have that feeling before. I usually stack two pillows so I had to take one away so my head is closer to the bed. That seems to work a bit. Yes I get tired much quicker now. My driving vertigo is almost gone yet when I stare at screens it sets it off a bit or when my adrenaline pumps. I am not taking any meds right now for it because I hear it delays the healing process. Not sure if that's true or not. I have had 3 decent days in a row now but I am fearing the worse. Have an appointment with my ENT next week

Hi my medication were Prochlorperazine 5mg, I started on 3 a day for about 2 weeks then my GP advised me to reduce them to 2 a day for a week which I did, about 3/4 days after reducing them I had a very mild "episode" which lasted approx 20 minutes, a week later I reduced them down to 1, the same thing happened again with 3/4 days of reducing them this "episode" onlted approx 5 minutes, the following week I stopped them, this is 2 weeks ago. I don't get dizzy at all now just this very slight feeling of being off balance/stagger if I'm tired or been on the laptop too long. The fatigue is a real drag, but I rather that than the spins. Hope you feel better soon.

Good news is my bloodwork and MRI came back normal so I will be following up next week with my ENT. At that point I'm guessing we will be discussing what to do from there

Hi gillian, they are phenothiazine tranquillisers used to treat dizziness due to ear disease's such as Menieres or Labyrinthitis nausea and vomitting including during migraine, mental illness and short term anxiety. They do make you drowsy and you may experience the shakes as I did but they were short term and the benefits/ relief were felt within an hour or so. Go to see your medical provider or GP in the UK and have a chat with him/her. If you are on them for longer than 10 days you HAVE to be weaned off them slowly like I were over a couple of weeks. Good luck, smile PS I advice leaving caffeine, chocolate and alcohol alone as the aggravate symtoms. You may have BPPV google it, it gives you more info.Since I've left them alone I've felt better and now avoid chocolate have decaff coffee and don't drink.

thanks, no cannot take these. my symptoms are actually worse on this kind of medication. |I stopped drinking alchohol over 3 years ago when this all started, only have a decaf coffe now and then, and only milk choc now and then,so not really causing problems. For e.g. today have been moving around a lot whilst out on public transport, (don't get travel sick), shopping etc. and yesterday a light exercise class. Both of these days have wiped me out! have to go to bed and put head squarely on a pillow! Seems the more i do the worse it is. not sure as the med line seems a no no. have done all the de sensitising exercises and no help either. think i am a lost cause!!
