Recovery

I am 10 wks out of my biamallateral surgery. I am still very much swollen with a little oozing but the doc said it's because of all the swelling. As I was cleaning my foot today I noticed on the side of my shin up above my ankle is a dent. Is this normal? It's on the outside but the inside is fine. Could it be I lost muscle there? The doc says it's fine but does anyone else experience this? Or any kind of changes to there leg or ankle or foot? I listen to the doc but I rather hear testimonies.

It could definitely be from muscle loss or tendon displacement. Until you regain use of your ankle/leg  and build up muscle again your surgery leg will probably look much different than your other leg.

    Hi Teresa!

I am 11 weeks in from a total ankle replacement surgery. My incision is still oozing a bit, but it's almost totally closed.

Thank God he prescribed me Santyl ointment, it sped up the healing process.

But, I will say, my ankle looks weird too.

It's still swollen in some places and not back to its original color. My doctor said this is all normal, and it may take up to a year to look normal. The ankle has been through a great deal of trauma, and it shows.

Good luck and a speedy recovery to you.
