Recovery after banding

Hi, I had 3 internal bandings at same time as flexible sigmoidoscopy 9 days ago (with sedation). The doc had told me to take three days off work after this, but I feel I'm still struggling with energy levels and discomfort. Am managing daily stuff just about, but all feel an uphill struggle. Just wondered how others had found this process. I feel like I'm being a bit wimpy and weak, to be honest, as I know banding is nothing compared to some of the ops other people have had. I wasn't really worried about the banding at all, but it's been more uncomfortable and tiring than I expected. I have had a few days of some bleeding with bowel movements, but haven't spotted any bands - have others experienced the same? Thanks for any responses ð

ive had two lots of banding the first they banded 4 and the second they banded 3 and each banding was about a month apart
they are really painful so dont feel a wimp at all i had a few weeks off work as recovery was slow esp after the first banding but looking back this may of been because i had more haems left in there
i never saw the bands come off either
take your time listen to ur body and take lots of hot baths x
also the banding didnt work for me i ended up having hemorroidectomy 3 weeks ago so im currently recovering from that

Thanks so much for your reply - really reassuring to know how I'm feeling isn't unusual. How are you doing after your haemorrhoidectomy? Has it been much more painful than the bandings? The way I'm feeling at the moment makes me think I wouldn't be able to face this op, but it must be great to be properly rid - you're very brave. Hope you are doing OK, and thank you again for your kind words.

Sounds like you've been so courageous with the ectomy - well done you. I really hope that you will be pleased with the results once all properly healed.
Thank you for the encouragement - I will do. xx

Hell No! I had 2 done on june 12th and it was a good few weeks before i started feeling "some what" normal again. Even after a month i was still having straining setbacks, which caused slight bleeding, as you can very easy reopen the sight. Everyone heals different. Over 2 months has passed and i still have good and bad days.

Thank you very much for your reassurance - I feel so much better to know that it's not just me! Isn't it amazing how good it is not to feel alone in suffering! I'm sorry though that you have been having a tough time too. I shall look forward to feeling somewhat normal again - and I wish you all the very best for good health going forward.
