Recovery for two broken ankles?

Posted , 2 users are following.

My mother (67) just broke both of her ankles and is having surgery done today to have a plate and/or screws placed. My mother is someone who wants to be very active, so being wheelchair bound for the next few weeks will be difficult. My sister and I are trying to do some research that will hopefully make her recovery period as smooth as possible. Has anyone had a similar injury/recovery? What kinds of things helped you during this time? Do you have any suggestions for helpful tools, equipment, entertainment, etc.?

Thank you in advance.
