Recovery from ENT surgery

Have any of you all had a septoplasty/sinus/turbinate reduction surgery recently? I am curious about the recovery. I am considering having this surgery. I have had sinus trouble for most of my life, but the past few years it has been really bad (constant pressure and headache, trouble breathing and sleeping, feeling bleh all the time). I saw a new ENT this past week who seems to take a more gentle yet thorough approach and I am finally considering having it done. I am no stranger to surgery and pain, but I have heard such horrible things about this surgery that I'm a bit terrified. I also have a big trip to the west coast planned for June. My surgeon has assured me that by day 24 post-op, when I am scheduled to head to west, I should be well enough and hopefully experiencing some of the benefits of the surgery to enjoy my trip. What are your experiences? Is traveling a pipe-dream 24 days post ENT surgery? Is my surgeon sugarcoating it?
