My dear friend has been battling prostate cancer for a few years now and with success. He had some back problems ruptured discs and so he spent a lot of time in bed, well due to that he developed pneumonia and was admitted to the hospital and last night they moved him to ICU . He isnt that old, will he get better?

They may need to run a bone scan on his back as that is one of the common locations that prostate cancer spreads to.  Pneumonia is not a symptom of prostate cancer in itself, but he does need to have the pneumonia treated.  If they moved him into ICU, it is a major case.

Sorry to hear your friend has such serious issues. When in bed for long lengths of time, Pneumonia is not uncommon if daily exercises are not carried out. As said earlier, advanced prostate cancer often resides in a man’s spine, causing much pain and discomfort.

What treatment was he having? What age is he?

If the doctors have moved him to an ICU ward, then he has some serious problems to overcome. But, there, he can have strong antibiotics administered and receive one on one care and have the best chance of recovery.

As we get older, a 5 year vaccination to remember is for Pneumonia, to help prevent this type of occurrence.

    I hope he recovers
