That's great! Ugh just feel like I should be doing better. Didn't have a bowel movement till day 5. And now have one several times a day. I am raw and hurts to wipe!

Hi. I don't think I've heard anyone on here that hasn't gone through hell those first few weeks. So keep up with the fibre sachets and stool softener as prescribed. Drink plenty of water and have a daily bath. B/m's are the worst!! I couldn't wipe for almost two months. Every time I went the loo I patted myself as much as I could, then jumped in the shower and used the shower head (wonderful).
I'm almost 4 months and I'm still healing, these surgeons that say 2wks are liars!! When I go the loo it still hurts, but I had quite a few internal and external ones removed.
When it was first done I was traumatised, it looked like someone had cut me open with a ginger bread man biscuit cutter lol!! Lots of swelling and I thought I still had hemorroids. This does go down but can swell again when having a b/m, so don't worry. I've been left with skin tags, which I hate, apparently this is also normal and can go down in time, as it's still part of the swelling. Although mine haven't, so I will discuss options when I next see my consultant.
Don't rush back to work, it can take time and all you think about is your butt, but you will see leaps of improvement rather than a daily healing. You will get there. It's just such a horrible operation. Good luck x

Thank you. I was really starting to feel like my recovery wasn't normal. But I still feel like they are there and it hurts so bad to wipe. Showers feel good! I'm out of work three weeks. Hope that's long enough!!

Yes it should be, although you obviously won't be fully healed. It's the b/m's that are the problem... take deep breaths... it's like giving birth each time lol there's another forum on here that we all chat on. Not sure how you find it, I guess you would need to keep searching under hemorroids or hemorroidectomy. It's a very open and honest thread and it's nice to know you're not alone and like you say, experiencing a 'normal' healing process

My son had a haemorrhoidectomy, but he was lucky only one haemorrhoid so he was back at work after a week. I had 4 done and could not walk to the loo just had to sort of slide my feet along, could not sit, stand or even lie down without pain. Definitely could not wipe after a BM . I used wet toilet paper! Even scared to gently pat dry after a shower, then I made myself a soft tissue Vaseline pad to put on my sore bum, gosh this changed everything, even better to walk a bit around the house. Did not dare go out of the house for 2 weeks. But now yipppppeeeee over the moon ... Just perfect. It will be 2 months on Jan 24 th since my op.... There is a great life after a haemorrhoidectomy. 😊🍺👍

The day after my op I went to the loo 10 times boy was I sore, felt like a train with a tender behind. One month later got a chest infection and the antibiotics gave me the runs ... Twice I did not make the toilet on time! Lost 3 kilos in total... But honestly it was all worth it just you wait and see. Let me know how you progress. Cheers June....🍷👍🙋🏼

Hi
How are you feeling today ? It's still early days but it does get better ! Hot water bottle and ice packs were my life line though recovery ! I'm 3 months since op ! I'm no where near how I was at the beginning ! I get on off day every two weeks where it hurts when I go to loo !
Also lots of soaks in the bath helps alot !
