Recovery time after MUA

Hi guys,
I had an MUA 18/01/2019 for Frozen Shoulder plus spur removal and tendon release. I am having P.T. twice weekly and also working on it at home several times daily.
My surgeon lifted my arm the whole way back an hour after surgery and said there you go you can now do this yourself. When the pain block wore off i could not lift my arm further than 90deg.
I was called back on the 1st. February and he was disappointed that i had not full range of movement.I have to go back next week for a jab if it is no better.
He doesn't seem to accept that i am in pain all the time and that the painkillers are doing nothing for me.
Can anyone tell me how long it took to recover after their surgery.
I honestly taught i would be pain free at this stage. The level of pain is better than what i had before my surgery.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Regards Catriona

Hello Catriona, I had full scope operation on my shoulder a year December..... couldn't move it at had to drill the shoulder in 3 places..... took further 10 months and extensive PT to get back to near normal I have 85% movement anything over that is good but it takes a few months and continuous PT ..... the pain at the time was off the reicter scale unbelievable pain and no-one understands unless you have suffered from it ... it will get better but takes time and patience... my other shoulder has just started I am mortified but good luck on recovery you will get there

Hiya, I had mua and needed it redoing 4weeks later 😦
I also had to have steroid inject as well 8 weeks after the 2nd mua 😦
I've had fs in both shoulders and both times needed further mua 😦
No fun I can tell you 😦 No one understands the pain unless they have suffered this themselves ........ Carry on with your excercises - I became obsessed with doing them but hey it worked 😃
Stay positive you will get through this vile condition I promise 😃
Sending gentle hugs.......

Hello Catriona,
I had MUA but did not have spur removal. I was so surprised at how much muscle loss I had with the frozen shoulder that I to regain after the MUA. It took me a couple of months to get back a good amount of motion. It has been a year now and I don't have any signs of ever having a frozen shoulder. FULL motion, but had to really devote morning and evening routine stretches and lifting small weights to make it happen in addition to the PT sessions for the first several weeks, going twice a week. Best of luck to you.

back in November of 2017 i had orthoscopic surgery on my left shoulder, due to torn rotator cuff, the surgeon removed bone spurs and shaved frailing from the tear of the rotator cuff (not fixing the tear) I continued to have severe pain. The Dr kept telling me that there is nothing that he can give me for the pain and nothing that can be done.
4 months later I had another MRI that showed I still had a torn rotator cuff. I went to 2 second opinion Dr's both saying that I needed further surgery. The surgeon that done the surgery kept saying all along that no surgery would help. finally in November of 2018 workers comp let me have the second surgery. The surgeon repaired the rotator cuff, removed a bone spur and done bisep surgery. I have been in physical therapy since, but I am still having severe pain all the time and any movement is breath taking. For some reason the Dr's will not give me a script for any pain meds. The therapist has tried calling the Dr several times, with no return call from him. because I can't hardly handle doing the therapy. She seems to think that I have nerve damage from the surgery. I have been dealing with this for well over a year now

I developed frozen shoulder after my second shoulder surgery. I could barely move my arm and was very pain full. I had a mua with capsule release. It's going on 3 yrs since that. I have most of my range back but it's still tight when I reach my limit. I still get some pain from time to time. It's taken a lot of time and patience to get where I'm at. mua isn't a miracle surgery. It should only be used as a last resort. Frozen shoulder goes through 3 stages. Freezing, frozen and thawing and can take up to 3 yrs to resolve and in rare cases longer depending how bad it was. So hang in there! There is light at the end of the tunnel. Do your own research on frozen shoulder so you have a better understanding. Good luck!

Thank you all for your replies. It is good to hear from you all.
I really don't know what to do as my P.T. feels I should go back to my surgeon and get a cortisone shot
I had a shot before my surgery and it did nothing to help. I have physio today so i will discuss it with her.
Thank's again fellow warriors.
