Recovery time for knee replacement

Posted , 21 users are following.

i need to have knee replacement. My concern is how long it will take me to be able to be back up on my feet. I live alone in an apartment, and have a dog which needs to go outside several times a day. I don't have anyone to help me afterwards. I can board my dog for a week or so, but will I be able to take him out regularly after that? Believe it or not, that's the only thing keeping me from scheduling the surgery. Any advice appreciated!

Had partial knee replacement 7 days ago. Walking my two dogs albeit slowly and with a limp. My recommendation is get the surgery now. I waited two years and very glad I have done it.

Sumarie, just as everyone has said, you yourself need help.

Can you have someone have your dog for a few weeks (up to 6 weeks if possible)?

As for help, some of my patients check into a care home for a few weeks and other employ someone temporary to come into their home and help out. Because you would surely need help.

I have had many patients cry on their first visit. Not because i have caused them pain but just the roller- coaster of emotions they are going through. Trust me the dog would be the least of your worries.

But if you follow your rehab protocol, it would eventually get better.
