Rectal Bleeding

Okay so I have Crohn's and have been pooping blood clots. I have been describing it as an apocalypse in the toilet or I'm having a period through my butt. Any thoughts or suggestions? I have not been taking my meds as often as I should, but I have been on that pattern for quite some time and this is a more recent problem.

    Hi is the blood bright red and is your bottom sore and itchy ? What medication are you on for your chrohns ? Jon

      Yes, the blood was bright red and there were about 3 blood clots, but it is not sore or itchy. I've started taking my meds again which is Azathioprine. No blood right now, but now I'm constipated, which is weird because I have been very smooth and regular for a about a month, but that's Crohn's I guess

    what meds are you on or been on? Why have you not stuck to them?

    Any other symptoms? When were you originally diagnosed?

    Sorry so many questions but you haven't told us much to go on.

      Azathioprine for inflammation, Ondansetron for nausea, and Famatidine (I think thats the spelling) for heart burn. I stopped taking it, because I didn't notice a difference when I took it v not. No other symptoms. I was diagnosed in, I wanna say 2008. And sorry for not giving enough info, this is my first post.

    Sound like you have a fissure (like a tear or rip) or something similar up your back passage.. Is the blood bright red or dark? The difference in colour would give a clue as to how far up it's bleeding.

    I've had one of these myself. It's a Crohns thing.. Guess I was lucky that the bathroom didn't look like an abettoir afterwards...

    If you're skipping a dose of prednisolone that can cause side effects but I don't know if this type of bleed is one of them..

    Get yourself to your GP or local walk in centre as soon as possible. Don't waste energy by getting embarrassed - they've seen it all before - but be warned, there's a possibility that you make be asked if ( how do I word this?) you have put something up there!

      The blood was bright red, but there were blood clots so a bit of both colors technically

    Contact your Consultants secretary for an appointment or your nurse specialist if you have one. If your bums bleeding and you don't know why get it checked out ASAP.

    Could be a fissure, piles or something more serious. Either way sounds like it needs investigating and treating.
