Rectal Bleeding Help Needed

Hi All
Hoping someone can help me out here, as I'm starting to get a bit worried about this particular problem.
For the past 3 - 4 mornings I've been passing quite a bit of bright red blood during bowel movements. When I go to the toilet, I pass a bit of wind and there is already blood present in the toilet bowl, then I pass a stool and this is where it starts to drip from my anus. I looks a lot, but in truth probably isn't as I know a little goes a long way, it's enough to turn the water in the toilet bowl red though. It will drip (1 drip every 2 - 3 seconds) for a minute or two, then stops. It's hard to say if there is any blood present in the stool as due to the water being red its hard to see, but I've never seen any in the past. There is no pain during a bowel movement. This is not the first time it happens either, I get these bouts now and again, and it will just stop and won't happen again for anywhere between a few weeks to few months.
I have been recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, CFS/ME, Gastritis and IBS and lately have been feeling a bit more under the weather than normal. For the past few days, since the bleeding started, I am a bit constipated, and definitely not passing the amount of stools that I normally do.
As far back as I can remember, I've always had a problem with bleeding bright red blood from my anus, but this is the longest bout of bleeding I've experienced. A couple of years ago I had a sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy and endoscopy and all that was found was very slight inflammation of my colon, rectal polyps that were removed and tested (found benign), internal haemorrhoids and that I had a very long and mobile colon. I've been to my doctor about these bouts of bleeding before, and he seems to think this is more than likely the haemorrhoids or an anal fissure. I'm also inclined to be thinking this, but there is a part of me now wondering if there could be something else going on, especially due to the amount that seems to be produced and how long this bout is going on for.
I was hoping that someone out there could help give me some other thoughts and views concerning this, especially those who experience the same sort of problem, just to help put my mind at some ease, if there is anything I can do to help ease / stop the bleeding or another possibility to look into. Any info would be greatly welcome.
Many thanks in advance.

Thank you for the reply Lynn, much appreciated.
I am more inclined to think haemorrhoids, or a fissure, especially since haemorrhoids were found during my colonoscopy, I just never thought they bled so much, and over so many days, but as they are blood vessels, then the amount of blood could seem a lot, and due to the nature of bowel movements, never really get a chance to fully heal before they are aggrevated again, well thats my theory anyway.
I will make an appointment with the doctor, again, but as I said to Ruari, I'm sure he'll tell me much the same as I've heard already regarding this.
Thank you again for your comments.

I really appreciate your reply, thank you.
Like I said, whenever I've mentioned this to my doctor in the past, and he tells me it is more than likely an anal fissure or haemorrhoids. He has, on a couple of occasions, done a rectal examination on me and says that there is nothing out of the ordinary going on. Plus the whole reason why I was referred for a sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy and endoscopy a couple of years ago was due to bleeding from my rectum.
I will, of course, make an appointment to see him again, but I've got the feeling he'll tell me everything that I've heard before.

I've just been researching haemorrhoids a bit and found that the amount of blood produced from them can be quite a scary amount, and will turn the toilet bowl water red, which seems to be whats happening with me. I've also noticed that 2 main symptoms of haemorrhoids are bleeding (obviously) and itching. Now I know I get the bleeding, but I don't notice any itching. The haemorrhoids found during my colonoscopy were internal, I have no external haemorrhoids, could this be the reason that I don't find my haemorrhoids itchy?
Any other thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

Just a quick update for you all.
Went to see my GP yesterday, he checked my temperature and blood pressure, and then went on to check my abdomen and then gave me in an internal examination. He said that he couldn't find anything out of the ordinary, but prescribed me some Anusol HC suppositories to elimate the fact that there could be internal haemorrhoids present, and then to follow up in 2 weeks time if the bleeding hasn't stopped.
Incidentally, I bled more this morning than I ever had during this period of bleeding, and I've been generally feeling a lot worse today. I feel very lightheaded and faint, I feel very cold, am trembling a lot, feel very nauseous and getting sharp pains in my lower left abdomen. On top of that I'm having to wear makeshift panty liners made from toilet roll as everytime I pass wind when sat or stood up, I pass blood as well, although I do find it odd that when I pass wind while being led down on my sides or back that there no blood. I've just tried to see if I can get an emergency appointment at my GP surgery but there is no one available, I'm now wondering if I should call NHS 111 service, as I really don't feel right at all.
I'm totally lost now and getting quite worried!

If you have tried and failed to get an emergency appointment with your GP I would definitely ring 111 for advice, make a list of your symptoms before you phone so you don't miss anything out. 111 sometimes take hours to get back to you so if you are really worried go to your local walk in centre if you have one or your local Urgent Care or A&E Dept. I think you have been patient and tried to do the right thing in trying to see your GP again but you need to be seen to get a second opinion and peace of mind. Take care of yourself.

Thank you for the reply and kind words Lynn, I'll give them a call now, something definitely isn't right!
I'll let you know how I get on.

Don't let 111 mess you around, it sometimes takes hours to actually get to speak to a medical professional who then refers you on to see an out of hours GP or advises going to A&E. Take care.

Hi Lynn
Just to let you know that I've just seen the out of hours GP, I live in quite a rural area, so maybe I'm lucky with short waiting times. He did the same checks as my GP, and reassurred me that all my vital statistics are fine and there is no sign of significant blood loss. He said the reason why I'm feeling a bit more ill than normal is probably due to my bowel movements being a bit backed up, but advised that I start to take the suppositories to see if the bleeding can be bought under control, then look into getting the BMs moving again. Its likely I built up a bit of anxiety with having a bowel movement whilst I've been bleeding, therefore contributing to my lack of being able to go properly, which is valid I think, after 3 - 4 days of bleeding I had started to get quite worried about going.
Thats about it for now, it is amazing how a bit of reassurance can totally change the way you feel, I feel a lot more at ease now and hoping the suppositories can get the bleeding under control.
Thank you for all your help and advice, I really appreciate it!

Thanks for the update it is appreciated. No need to thank me for my input, I am really pleased you have been seen quickly and that you feel reassured. There is nothing worse for you physical and mental health than worrying and worry itself can cause additional symptoms. I always say if in doubt get a second opinion, that's what the doctors are there for and you only get one chance at life. Try to chill out and relax now, follow the doctors advice and fingers crossed you will steadily improve in the coming days. Hope you can get some sleep now you are not so worried and stressed about your symptoms.
