Rectal bleeding without bowel movement can anyone advise?

My gp told me about a year ago I have internal hemmoroids, however the bleeding really scares me as there is quite a lot even though it only happens around once in 4-6months. It doesn't happen when I have a bowel movement, most times is in the night when I pass urine.

I know I need to see my gp but wondered if anyone else has experienced this or any experts that have heard this before?
