Rectocele???

Hi sorry his post may sound abit silly but for those of you that have a rectocele , how did you first know you had one ? Or did they find it in surgery when you were having something else fixed? I have a grade 3 prolapsed bladder and 3 years ago the gynocologist said I had a slight rectocele but didn't do anything with it . When j was examined 3 weeks ago that gynocologist said I didn't have one ?? But when I get up in a morning I have a heaviness all down there and sometimes it feels like there is just constant pain for a few days , I really cNt explain it !! I'm guessing if they found I had one when they fix my bladder and it is bad they will fix that also there and then? I know this is something I should ask my consultant and I will next time I see her ... In so much pain with it this morning , thanks for reading

Hi sarah when I had my cystocele repair they said I had a very slight rectocele but left it as it really wasn't anything, when I signed consent form the day of operation it was for prolapse repair and surgeon told me that covered everything including a rectocele if they discovered I had one that needed repaired xx

Me too Helen. I was told if I needed cystocele they would do that too. Luckily I only needed rectocele x

Thankyou all , am just guessing I will be signing stuff to say that the can have a free reign while there down there lol x

No you don't have to sarah. What you sign is up to you so if there's something you don't want the surgeon to do that can be indicated on the consent form. It's your body, your choice.

Haha. They can only do what's been agreed. I even had students ask if they could examine me when I was under. They don't do anything without consent xx

No what I meant is that I want them to fix anything that is broken while I'm under to save having to have future op's , if there is a rectocele I want it sorted at the same time as his prolapsed bladder

Very sensible get it all over and done with. I had both a cystocele and rectocele repaired and the recovery is the same because a rectocele is the most complicated. Get all the advice you can beforehand (not Dr Google) and you'll be fine x

That's what they said they'd do to me. Fix whatever was broken. X
