Rectocele prolapse

i have a rectocele prolapse, awaiting to see gynaecologist. After doing some reading, I am wondering if my bladder and uterus have fallen as well? Sometimes can not control my bladder at all, full on pee my pants, no,stopping it. I have to shift to the left when sitting on the toilet to empty my bladder. My period stopped in October, and I am getting quite a bit of pain in my lower abdominal area. Like a bad menstral crap. Pain up around my kidneys, and into my lower back.
this is very new to me, found out yesterday, well knew I had part of my rectum coming out my vagina. As I can feel the poop in it, and have to apply gentle pressure to poop.
I live in in a very small community, and the nearest gynaecologist is an hour and a half away. Sounds like my appt. won't be until end of February due to wait list. I have been scared to have sex, my husband knows what's going on and is very supportive.
Any advise or information is greatly appreciated.

I had a lower back ache that felt like a organ and not a strain on back. It did cause me to leak also. I had cystecele and rectecele. Both happen pretty close together, or at same time. I used a pessary and it did make back ache go away. I had to wait 2.5 months until surgery.
That was my experience.

Hello nancy. steph is absolutely correct you need to see a urogynaecologist if at all possible. Do your research if you can because some urogynaecologists still have the title of gynaecologist with urogynaecology as a specialist interest. Regarding your symptoms, the fact that you have pain in the region of your kidneys makes me think you could have a urine infection and that would account for your lower abdominal pain as well. See if you can put in a urine specimen at your GP surgery because if I'm correct you could be very unwell if it's left.
Try and do regular pelvic floor exercises, they won't help your prolapse but they will strengthen the muscles so if you have surgery you'll have a better chance of success. There are a few recent post from Stephanie who is the expert on this, I think there was one 2 days ago. When you need your bowels opened put your feet on a small stool to elevate them and see if that helps. Also buy some stool softeners (Dulcoese capsules are one in particular) to help the passage of the stool (not the one you sit on of course 😂 you can buy them at the chemist or in a supermarket. I think you probably do have a bladder prolapse from what you describe. Regarding sex, your husband may not even feel the prolapse I know mine didn't because when you lay down the "lump" tends to move. You have a supportive husband so you could always discuss this again with him. I hope the advice you get on the forum helps. Take care x

Hi Nancy, try not to worry! Take in as much advice on here as possible as I have found the advice here is the best! An overview of my story - three years ago I was having physiotherapy for a low back ache, whilst doing that and a physical job that is when I developed a prolapse and inguinal hernia at the same time it has taken years to diagnose that! The inguinal hernia was diagnosed with in weeks but I kept saying about the drop below as well but I was told it was probably the hernia! My periods also stopped and I was referred to a gynaecologist as I had cysts on ovaries and after 6 months I had a laparascopy and diagnosed endometriosis. Even at 6 week check I said still felt same if not worse below got referred back to gp who then went on the back route by having a lumbar mri so now this is a year after prolapse and hernia I now am told I have scoliosis, degenerative disc disease and spondylolethesis! I appreciate finding out all these but I believed something was wrong underneath which was getting worse causing me urinary and bowel issues. Two years after prolapse and hernia my gp done an internal on my asking and I was told I have a cystocele and I went on the waiting list for female physiotherapist. After a couple of months waiting I done the course which didn't really help - I found it helpful but it didn't help the problem went back to gp and he referred me to a urogynaecologist. After four months of waiting and then being told my health authority said only one out patient appointment was being funded! Luckily I decided to get a private appointment through my husbands work medical insurance which I wished I'd used earlier - within minutes I was told I had a grade 2-3 rectocele and booked for surgery! I had the surgery three weeks ago and it I had a grade 3 rectoenterocele and grade 1 uterine prolapse. Apart from the pain of recovery it seems to have helped with alot of my lower back/hip pain if that helps as I was in agony with that before surgery and pain down left leg! Sorry for the such long story but I feel I needed to explain it all! Please try and see a urogynaecologist if possible as the gynaecologist I saw for the endometriosis didn't 'see' that I had a prolapse! Keep pushing to get help - after endless appointments you have to be strong! Take care x
