Recurrent cystitis

This worked for the first few weeks, and then along came the thrush :x I tried probiotics but now this keeps returning! Alongside this I'm constantly unwell and believe the constant antibiotics are to blame. Over the last week or so I have felt the symptoms of cystitis creeping up on me until it’s got so bad I feel I've been kicked in the stomach. I truly believe that the infection is now resistant.

I have just been doing some research and come across a health supplement called Waterfall D-Mannose, the problem with this is the price, has anyone tried this? I have an appointment with my consultant next week and hopefully will get a new solution.

    HI there,

My Nana used to get this quite often and so she started having a glass of barley water each day and she didn't get cystitis after that, a simple remedy worked for her maybe you could try this? or Cranberry juice? I'm not saying this is the cure, but either may help ease your symptoms?

I've just been to the GP to get antibiotics for my second episode of Cystitis in 3 months. I mentioned about Cranberry Juice, as this had not been succesful for my current bout. My GP said that Cranberry tablets are better than juice as Cranberry Juice contains hardly ANY cranberry juice in it at all, for it to be effective. Tablets contain far more of the active ingredient known to fight off cystitis. So I am now going to give tablets a try.

    Hi Anne,

I hope the tablets relieve your discomfort, as we are all different, juice may work for some and not for others but it has certainly helped me in the past. I hope your symptoms become nil soon.

    Kind Regards
