Recurrent infection

Ive noticed now that i have had a UTI every so often at the moment.

My doctor keeps trying me out with a variety of anti biotics, but non seem to stop this UTI from coming back after a short period of time.

If anyone has had similar experiences it would be good to know, how to prevent these infections.

I too have been suffering from recurrent cystitis for the last year (currently having yet another bout) my doctor has also tried differing antibiotics with varying degrees of success I was prescribed another different one yesterday which I have reacted to quite badly too.I have been to see yet another GP this morning and have finally had a major breakthrough in that I am finally being listened too and he is willing to look at all the episodes rather than treating them as isolated events At last !! I totally understand what you are going through as for prevention I have tried everything I've just about drowned in cranberry juice abstained from sex totally must to my husbands annoyance ,bathed without any bubble bath using Ph balanced soap and swapped my trusty jeans for looser fitting trousers and skirts and unfotunately nothing has made any difference up to now I certainly hope you have more luck. Please do take comfort in knowing you are by no means alone.

i tried waterfall d mannose at great expense and in desperation, it absolutely did nothing to help, surely if cystitis is caused by bacteria then only an antibiotic can clear it up. my gp was very scathing that i had even bothered to try this herbal remedy.

i have had recurrent bladder infections for several years now. I used antibiotics preventively, which means after sexual intercourse i would take one pill. I decided to see a naturopath and she proceeded to change my diet, no sugar, no alcohol. I generally stick to this and i no longer get an infection after intercourse but occasionally i still do (3 times/year) ussually if i have intercourse 2 days in a row. I am still frustrated because i still am prone to them and sometimes feel uncomfortable with lower back pains and abdominal discomfort even if i don't get a full blown bladder infection. I think somehow their is a hormonal link which affects the environment which makes me more susceptible to bladder infections, this is my theory. It is so tiring but if anyone has some advice i would appreciate it
