Recurrent Ovarian Cysts need help want it to stop.

I am 38 year old and mother of 3. I have had extremely painful ovarian cysts a couple times a year for over a decade. I recently experienced a complex cyst as well. I am unable to take birth control or other "usual" methods to help with cysts as I have issues with migraines. I am at the point in my life that my family is complete and never knowing when a cyst is going to occur is quite frustrating when trying to live a normal life.  I went to my GYN about 2 months ago and brought up the idea of a hysterectomy. She told me that if I was 10years older or more she would do it but NO right now. She said I would be to much at risk for early onset of heart disease. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I work from home right now and want to look for a full time job but between migraines and never knowing when a cyst will pop up makes for a nightmare employee.

Hi, I’m 39 with 3 children, migraine sufferer and recently had a large cyst removed. Originally the plan was to have a full hysterectomy (inc ovaries)as they thought the womb had been affected by the cyst so I had discussed this with my consultant. Apparently there are higher risks for migraine sufferers in HRT and due to age they would want you to be on HRT (assuming your ovaries were removed) as it can provide protection against heart disease, bone disease and breast cancer (assuming you are able to take it)I was the same as you in that because of various gynae issues over the years I wouldn’t have minded having it all gone but for me this was the best option. Ovaries produce hormones not just for ovulation and that’s why they try to keep them. If ovarian cysts are the problem partial hysterectomy won’t fix it. You could try to push your GP for a referral to a consultant and see what they think.
