Recurrent Skin Infection/Reaction for over 14 months! Any help please?

Hey - posting on here in the hope that someone may have a solution or suggestion for my skin issues please! I have been getting a recurrent infection (impetigo) or reaction since March/April 2019. It typically occurs during or after i have contact with my partner (kissing/face to face contact).

the symptoms are:

  • redness and mild sensitivity
  • small bumps/spots on end of my nose
  • red/irritated skin underneath nose/on my upper lip area
  • weeping which dries to a slightly yellow crust in most cases, if it is a small reaction then it'll just remain red in that area for a while until going away
  • slight itchiness but mostly from not being able to moisturise the area properly

I have eczema and have done since I was a child, it usually reacts to certain fragrances or pollen. Last year i assumed this was just a bout of eczema on my lip so I moisturised it a lot but it didn't help. My entire nose became red and looked sunburnt but it wasn't - and the skin on my lip was not healing. Eventually there was a yellow crust on my lip, so i went to the walk-in and got oral antibiotics which didn't help. the infection spread on my face more but was helped with topical antibiotics.

However, the issue continued every week, then every 2 weeks, then every month and is now about every 3 months after a year and 3 months of this weird cycle.

I was given Naseptin to stop colonisation in the nose. Issue still continued. I was then given Bactroban which is the most effective thing I've used in my nose and on my skin -but the issue still occurs. My partner has also been given Bactroban for use in the nose now. However, after having contact with him after this, the redness has come back on the end of my nose slightly - and seems to flare up with humidity/steam as it began to feel sensitive when i ate soup at lunch as a result of the warmth.

My GP put me on bactroban first, and my referral appointments also advised the same. i have a check up with my referral doctor in september but i wondered if anybody has had a similar experience or problem and found a solution?

Its also worth noting that my partner touches his face a lot. Particularly his nose/mouth. I'm sensitive to it as a result of all this madness, but I wonder if it also has something to do with it as a contributor.

Any help please?!

Apologies for the super crusty photos here! But getting desperate

Thank you in advance!

Hey Jamie, wondering if you ever got to the bottom of this. Seems to also be suffering with this for a long time around my lip/beard & nostril area. Also suffer with eczema too. I wonder if it's some sort of yeast or bacterial infection?
