Recurrent throat infection

I do suffer quite often from throat infection; as often as once or twice in a month. Every time, it clears up after a short antibiotics course of azithromycin, except this time. I already had azithromycin 500 three days course, and still it didn’t clear up. I do gargling with salted water and also drink warm water when my throat is infected before going for antibiotics, but this doesn’t give long term effect and I have to take antibiotics to get relief. Anyone in the boat? What could be possible reason? Could it be allergy or drinking water problem? Shall I go deep and insist for further checking? Please advice or suggest how I can minimize these kind of infection.

Tonsils?? I had the same thing for 2 years and my tonsils were normal size. I was just getting strapped until 2 months ago I decided to see ENT. He told me tonsils don't have to be large to cause problems. I got rid of them just 3 weeks ago and yes he was right. I had chronic inflammation + tonsillitis... Also some sort of bacteria that I still have to figure out what it is.

He also told me antibiotics will not help they can't go that deep to clear all the bacteria. Look for second opinion.

as far as i know antibiotics go into the blood stream via the stomach

iv never heard of them having to be incontact with the infected part .

      thats just stupid .

Yea its true... The way tonsils are and how they trap bacteria is crazy... I was on antibiotic for 3 months streight and nothing helped. I think I tried every kind out there and it just didn't do anything. I even tried oregano oil but again nothing.

Thank you guys for replies. I have never thought of tonsil as this could be possible cause. I never have any classical symptoms of tonsillitis like swelling or high temperature. But I do have lot of voice change every time I have sore throat. Nevertheless, I will discuss this possibility in my next appointment with GP. Thanks for giving food for thought.
