Recurring cystitis or UTI. Severe anxiety!

Posted , 5 users are following.

I suffered from kidney stones back in March. Every since then, almost every month, I've had some sort of recurring cystitis or UTI/urge to pee. It seems like it has been constant.

I am so panicky and anxiety ridden about this. I feel like I have some sinister disease or it's going to end up like that.

I have tried drinking lots of water, been to docs for urine tests. Had bloods to test kidney function and had scans back in May which seemed ok.

Things are getting worse though. They keep saying I will be referred to gynaecology and urology. Finally have my gyn appointment as I've had some bleeding in between periods. As for urology, I'm still waiting. They just keep saying it's some sort of infection or cystitis but keeps coming back in quick succession and causing so much pain. I am terrified. I have read so much and its literally got me petrified!!

Please tell me someone has had similar experiences and are Ok???

    Hi Jac,

So sorry to hear that you are suffering. Have they given you a long enough course of antibiotics, as these days, utis need longer course to get rid of them. Don’t neglect anything, speak to your GP now about your concerns. I didn’t get the correct treatment and have ended up in a bad way. I’m sure you will be fine though.

    Best wishes,

    Sam

You sound just like me reading too much into everything you read and convincing yourself that you have something absoultely awful.

You don't say how old you, bleeding between periods can indicate different problems depending on your age and you are doing the right thing getting checked out by gynaecology.

Regards your recurrent UTI's as Sam wrote you could need a longer course of antibiotics. After suffering with recurrent symptoms UTI's myself when my urine sample did not always show an infection I insisted on seeing a urologist. He told me the only way to know what was wrong was to look inside my bladder although I had already had an Xray, a scan and a transvaginal scan previously. I was terrified and nearly cancelled my appointment but I am so pleased I didnt. My cystoscooy was NOT painful and over in less than five minutes. I had the results immediately, I have overactive bladder and inflammation. I have been on tablets for my OAB and antiobiotics for the inflammation, I take one low dose antiobiotic every night and have not had any UTI symptoms for four months. I have a review in December with the urologist in November when he will decide if I need to stay on the medication.

You really must tell your doctor exactly how you feel and insist that your urology appointment is sorted.

Take care of yourself and try to stop worrying.

    Hi Jac,

Ditto to what Sam and Lynn have said the other thing you can try while you are waiting is a high does cranberry tablet once a day the cranberry stops the bacteria clinging to the bladder. a friend of mine that was going through what you are tried it and hasn't had a UTI since.

you may find when you get to the hospital the consultant you see does both Uro and Gyne we have one at our hospital who specialises in both

I know its easy for me to say but try not to worry you are not alone, I have been suffering with bladder problems for 25 years and mostly its just a flipping pest, hopefully yours will be able to be fixed

    Take care

    Linda.
