Recurring Foot Pain

Hello! I've been getting a lot of pain in my right foot lately. Whenever I go walking for any longer period of time, I end up with a sharp pain along the arch of my foot. It feels like a string running along the underside of my foot that got too tight or small for my foot. I get a really painful pulling sensation and depending on how bad it is, I can feel a hard line along my arch.

Normally it's a manageable level of pain but a few weeks ago, I went for a very long walk in the woods (wearing very good, comfortable shoes) and when i came back whatever is under my foot started pulling really hard. I tried to ice or massage it but the pain just progressively got worst until my entire foot was completely stiff. I woke up the next day with my foot red and swollen and i could not move my toes or stand for 3 days. This had never happened to me before. I didn't fall or twist my foot in any way, so I really don't know how that happened...

I'm 22 and healthy and I don't exercise that much, so I would think i just have weak soles, but it really only ever happens to my right foot so if anyone has any knowledge of such things I would really appreciate some insight smile

It sounds like Plantar fasciitis.  In the short run lots of ice and possibly taping the underside of your foot if you google taping for plantar fasciitis - you will find images and videos you can probably do it yourself.  In the longer term you need insoles to support your arch / foot - you can get them in shops like Shuropody so try them but you may need custom ones which you can get on NHS or from a private physio or podiatrist

    Hope that helps

I would go to a foot and ankle orthopediest. May be fasitis or a number of other issues. Better to get the diagnosis sooner than later which can cause more problems. I personally like ortho physicians more than podiatrists but might be because my husband is a Radiologist and I am an X Ray tech.
