Recurring fungal ear infection..what should I do?

Posted , 2 users are following.

I have had a recurring fungal ear infection in my ear canal for about 3 years now. Even with regular microsuctioning and drops it still will not go away. My ears are always kept dry and nothing is put inside them. Anyone have any suggestions as to how I could get rid of this once and for all?

You didn't mention if you had been given antibiotics for the infection

Yes i have been given antibiotics orginally a few years back but the infection did not clear up. However since we have taken swabs which has confirmed it is a fungal infection.

you should have been given more antibiotics at that time .to make sure all

the infection had  been cleared.Time to go back to Base Camp, and start

      again.,preferably with another doctor

I was given too many antibiotics at the beginning, which is what lead it to become a fungal infection. Now there are no traces of a bacterial infection, only a chronic fungal one.

Have you been treated by a doctor or ear specialist? If you have only seen a doctor I would suggest seeing an ENT. If you have seen an ENT I would get a second opinion from another one. Good luck!!!
