Recurring Kidney infections/UTIs

Hello,

I have suffered for a few years now with my kidneys, first starting off with when I drank alchohol. A few days later I would get really ill with a kidney infection and given antibiotics. It then became more common to get them without drinking.  I would also inbetween this get reucurring bladder infections.

I am 19, a female, and have had various tests (ct scan, dye put in my arm through a drip to see any problems clearer and a few ultrasounds) done to check the structure of my kidney is all okay and that there isnt any obstructions ( all seems to be okay, and they didnt think that it would be worth looking with a cystoscope just yet.) However something worth noting is that I always seem to have invisible blood in my urine that is discovered through dipstick tests. And recently my brother has been having the same kidney problems (kidney infection, especially after drinking alchohol).

I am also now on medication called 'Hiprex' it has antiseptic qualities to try and prevent getting UTI's/kidney infections however doesnt seem to be working as I still get them.

Really getting fed up now, as when I get ill with it I get super achey, all of my glands swell up, a dry mouth so constantly thirsty and weeing loads, especially at night, and dull aches in my back.

Once when passing urine I passed out from a pain in my right lower side. But like i said, no kidney stones or any problems structurely.

Has anyone else been going through this too? Any ideas what could be wrong?

Thanks

YES! My experience was Identical and after 6 Years I found out I had a Floating Kidney - Nephroptosis... My kidney would Drop onto my Hip whenever I was sitting - Standing Up!! Alcohol was the 1st Clue and my Surgeon said all of his patients said the Exact Same Thing! πŸ˜‰

Quick Laproscopic Surgery called a Nephropexy To Fix the Kidney in place and 5 Months Post Op I'm All Better! πŸ˜‚

To Diagnose request and IVP (simple xrays) With Position Change (laying down and standing up) AND AFTER EMPTYING THE BLADDER... This last view was my "Money Shot" to confirm diagnosis!

Oh I have never heard of that! How did you find out that in the end?

5 months to recover ah bless thats long!! I'm starting to feel like i'm making it up or overthinking it now but I know that there is something wrong with my kidneys.

Just googled it and can't find that much info on it but it does mention bouts of cronic flank pain which I do get, and sometimes it makes me feel sick and pass out. Would love to find out more info /your experience from it!

Thank you Amanda for your reply!

I have read the blog, and I am starting to think that I do not have this as the flank pain isn't there whenever I change positions from sitting/laying to standing, it only happens every few months but it is excrusiating when it does come on! Last time I had it i passed out after laying down in the bath to getting out, and woke up to the pain that lasted for 10 minutes strong, and was only slightly relieved when I laid down.

I tend to nearly pass out or be sick from the pain when it does come on, but this isnt all the time. The last time I had the pain so bad I did go to A&E and they was going to take my appendix out?!? Luckily they didn't.

Also, I do feel tired but I dont feel exhausted as such.

I will still mention this to my doctor though.
