I broke my big toe and a platform shoe (flat wood shoe with shoelaces) was prescribed for a few weeks. It immobilized the toes and foot from any movement . Angry toe and foot for sure. Made me nauseous from pain. I was on Tylenol extra strength 3 times a day. The doc gave me a injection for swelling and pain in ER which helped right away. Icing, anti swelling meds like ibeprophen and rest it’s the best treatment. Stay off your foot keep elevated. I also used OTC heat rub with lidocaine for pain and swelling. Be patient in time it will get better. Sometimes healing needs to take time out from daily tasks. Easier said than done. Another week you will feel the difference.resting in key for toes foot issues. There’s all those veins, nerves and so many bones to cause swelling in feet. So added swelling is a problem especially when walking to much.

sounds like terrible medicine. Red and blue is bruising and most likely means a fracture that has not healed.

Can upu not get a second opinion?

hi Al17141,sounds like the blood is not circulating into the foot, I would have an ultra sound done to find out why.
